By Davis WeddiPOLICE Chief Maj. Gen. Katumba Wamala and UPDF’s Ist Division Commander Brig. Levi Karuhanga met on Monday to discuss ways of suppressing the increased influx of illegal firearms and criminals in Kampala.“This meeting was meant to compare notes and brainstorm on the source of the illegal firearms being used to terrorise city residents,” Katumba said in a brief interview yesterday. He said the Police had on several occasion removed lethal firearms from criminals, but that the firearms kept re-emerging, making it necessary for the security agencies to focus on the origin of the firearms.“This is a good development because it brings a new chapter in the Police-Military relations. It was formerly difficult for the Army and the Police to meet,” Katumba said. The meeting was held in Katumba’s office.Ends
