Muhangi Surveys Safari Rally Route

FORMER Africa champion Charles Muhangi leaves today for Kenya to recce the route of the Kenya Safari rally due July 11-14, reports Douglas Mazune.Muhangi and experienced navigator Frank Nekusa will tomorrow start reccing the route of the toughest event of the World rally championship (WRC) series.“It is not a simple rally. We will recce up to Sunday and return to Kampala on Monday,” an upbeat Muhangi said. “We will go back for the final recce early next month.”Muhangi, who will drive his Subaru Impreza ‘Ekitaguriiro’, is the only Ugandan driver in the rally famous for attracting thousands of Ugandan fans.Muhangi, who had earlier dropped his intentions to compete in the event, changed his mind Friday.After the Acropolis rally in Greece at the weekend, manufacturers’ teams are now focusing on Kenya.Ends
