OVER 1,500 hectares on the Kapchorwa section of the Mount Elgon National park have been encroached on, the boundary re-tracing team has said.

The team that re-traced the boundary using a Global Positioning System (GPS) machine found out that two primary schools and two trading centres were inside the park.“Teriet and Mengya primary schools and Kibanda trading centre are entirely in the national park,” the team said in a three-page report.The chief game warden, James Okonya, said the encroachers would be evicted.Ends
