ALL turbo charged cars will have their speeds restricted in the TOTAL Pearl of Africa Uganda rally August 30-September 1, reports Douglas Mazune.Clerk of course David Mayanja told The New Vision that all cars would be required to have restrictors on their turbo chargers to level the ground in the competition.“For uniformity cars must have a 32mm turbo for group N and 34mm turbo for group A. But drivers will still be fast,” Mayanja said on telephone while surveying what he described as a slippery route in Jinja.Group S cars whose homologation expired will also be required to have restrictors. Drivers will declare their turbo chargers for sealing at TOTAL Nakawa station August 29 before scrutineering of cars the next day.A driver is allowed to change a turbo only once in each leg.Use of an undeclared turbo or unsealing the turbo is punishable by disqualification from the rally.Kenyan Nishit Shah (Subaru Impreza) and TOTAL Rally Team drivers William Blick (Mitsubishi Evolution) and Arthur Blick Jnr (Toyota Supra) joined the rally as entries closed on Friday. The event, the sixth of the Africa Rally championship series has attracted 42 entries.Sponsors are TOTAL (U), Hima Cement, Hotel Equatoria, Celtel and South African Airways.Ends
