THE national rugby XV proved a dominant force with a 22-5 victory over a well-composed Kampala Rugby Union Football Club select XV in a trial match at Kampala club, Wednesday.
Uganda takes on Botswana next weekend in the Six Nations Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) finals at KRUFC.
Timothy Mudola maintained his scoring trend with a brilliant try that put the national team at the front just 30 minutes into the game.
The national side, looking to make it three consecutive wins in the CAR tournament, took their time to find their rhythm as Nathan Wasolo and Gerson Onono found their way through the opponent’s defence with a try each.
The constant flow of the national side took its toll in the second half as the opponents started playing an abrasive game in search for a try.
Samuel Rubanga scored for the hosts as Gideon Kamya sealed it all in the 75th minute.
Today, the team takes on a select Makerere University XV in another trial. Simon Tendo, back from holiday in Emanuel the UK, will feature for MUK alongside other stars hoping to make it to the final team that will face Botswana.
Meanwhile, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) will today unveil a sponsorship package to URFU ahead of the CAR final match.
