The Omuhikirwa (premier) of Toro, Steven Nyabong Rwakijuma, has appealed to the Government and well-wishers to raise funds to save Omukama Oyo Nyimba Iguru’s vehicles from being auctioned.

The Omuhikirwa (premier) of Toro, Steven Nyabong Rwakijuma, has appealed to the Government and well-wishers to raise funds to save Omukama Oyo Nyimba Iguru’s vehicles from being auctioned.
Speaking to The New Vision on phone on Tuesday, Nyabong said he was annoyed that it was Batoro embarrassing the kingdom by using extortion tricks.
“This is a Mutoro trying to use a Mutoro lawyer to extort money from the king. He should actually be contributing to the well being of the king,” Nyabong said.
Plantek Consultants, an architectural firm, secured a court order on Friday to auction Oyo’s official Mercedes Benz and Pajero vehicles, claiming US $18,464.
The debt arose out of drawing new designs for the Karuziika (palace) now undergoing renovation funded by Libyan leader Col. Muamar Gaddafi.
“We paid the guy $10,000 in 1998 when he did the work. Why should we pay another $18,000 on top of that?” Nyabong asked. He said the claimant lacked patriotism.
He said he had called a meeting of Batoro and well wishers in Kampala to discuss the welfare of the king.
“We shall appeal to the Government to help us. If we fail I don’t think it will help the claimants to sell those vehicles because they are already junk,” he said.
