Nakawa Division LC3 chairman Protazio Kintu has said plans are underway to embark on a sh300m project to re-develop the slum areas close to Bugolobi, reports Herbert Ssempogo.
“We have finished carrying out a survey and the whole place has been demarcated. The next step will be opening roads so that the place is easily accessible,” Kintu said.
Kintu told The New Vision that the project is to be carried out under the Local Government Development Programme (LGDP) funded by the World Bank.
He said all buildings whose plans did not conform to the Kampala City Council planning requirements would be razed.
Kintu said private developers would be allowed to set up structures with the guidance of KCC and the division planning authorities.
He said residents would have to shift in order to pave way for developments. Ends
