A section of Kampala International University (KIU) students are extremely furious after being left out of the team to the University games in Tanzania, reports Mark Namanya.

The KIU team for the games departed last week.
Rugby players Patrick Ndimukulaga and Lawrence Adriko said they were made to train for long spells but were eventually ignored in preference for mercenaries.

“We missed a number of lectures and course works while training to make the team for the trip.

“We want to play as students and not mercenaries,” said Ndimukulaga.

“We have trained for over two weeks but the dean of students and sports tutor could not consider that.”

The disgruntled students have since threatened to stage a protest. The university is one of the many taking part in the Dar es Salaam East Africa University games in Tanzania.

Others are Uganda Christian, Makerere, Nkumba, Moi and Kenyatta.
