Busia bank
BUSIA Children and Aged Foundation has set up a village bank to help stimulate development in Busia and surrounding areas. They are especially targeting the rural farmers. The bank situated along Majanji Road has set aside sh1.7b to lend out to its clients who include farmers and business people in the rural parts of the district at very attractive interest rates.

HIV fear
MAYUGE People living with HIV/AIDS, have expressed dismay over the manner in which employers at their work -places treat them. Sulaiman Walya, the representative for PLWA, said several teachers had been reportedly dismissed by some district education officers, on the grounds that they were sick with the disease. Walya was recently speaking at Igamba village in Mayuge district.

Kenya maize
BUSIA Uganda has started importing large quantities of maize grain from Kenya. Traders at Busia border say, at least three tonnes of the grain passes through the border post every day towards Kampala. Swaibu Kalange, the Busia traders' association chairman said the reason for the increased imports, is that maize from Kenya is clean and of the hybrid type very much sought after by grain dealers.
