By James Bakama LAST ditch attempts by Pascal Owor and Sylvia Chelimo to qualify for the World Indoor Championships proved futile at the weekend. Owor finished third at the Flanders Invitational meet in Norway in an 800-meter time of 1:48.90 - ten seconds short of the World Indoor requirement. Chelimo's bid was in the 3,000m in Virginia, USA where she came in 18.19 seconds short of the 9:05.00 qualifying mark. The world indoors are set for March 10 - 13 in Lisbon. The results mean Uganda will be represented by only Julius Acon. Acon hit the Lisbon mark at the Sydney Olympics. Owor had earlier also tried his luck at the 1,000m where finished fifth in 2:22.23 at the Hallensia Indoor meet. Olympic and World Championship medallist Davis Kamoga and Grace Birungi have also met the Lisbon requirements, but are not ready to participate. Ends
