FUFA: When will the circus ever end

Mar 18, 2001

FUFA is in the news again and, as always, for the wrong reasons.

FUFA is in the news again and, as always, for the wrong reasons. One of FUFA's numerous debts resulted into the embarrassing attachment of the federation's copier and computer to help recover sh2m owed to Hotel Africana. The circus is just not over yet- several transporters who ferried teams during the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup are also reportedly planning a big demonstration this week to demand for their pay. At this rate, FUFA may have most of its property attached. Who knows, the federation offices could even shut down, rendering homeless Uganda's most popular sport. But do things have to really get this bad. With the $250,000 yearly grant from FIFA, and a couple of other packages-forget about the 10% share of gate collection from league matches. Its high time remedial action is taken. FUFA should once again reconsider internal cleansing. The problem with Uganda is the lack of culture to resign when one fails to properly execute his duties.
