By Catherine Ntabadde THE minister of local government in Buganda Kingdom, Kamala Kanamwanje, has appealed to Ugandans in Buganda region to choose MPs who will advocate for federo in the next parliamentary elections. He was on Saturday handing over certificates of appointment to sub-county chiefs of Nakawa division at Naguru Community Centre. "Buganda region has over 70 MPs but they have failed to fight for federo saying things are tough in Parliament. Let us vote for people who will not complain," Kanamwanje said. He said Buganda region MPs were the ones frustrating Buganda's efforts to restore federo. Kanamwanje said the chiefs appointed would be helping the local government to facilitate Kabaka's work in the division. "These chiefs are chosen to work with the LCs in the division are to facilitate Kabaka's work as a group but not to antagonise one another," he said. The function was attended by the Nakawa division Mumyuka, Aloysious Kiwanuka, the division chairman Protazio Kintu, the principal town clerk, Stephen Higobero and the former city mayor, Nasser Sebaggala. Kiwanuka said the chiefs appointed will be doing Kabaka's work in good faith and should not expect rewards. He challenged chiefs who were not ready to work for the Kabaka to resign. He, however, criticised youths for shunning voluntary work. "Youths are failing to cooperate. Whenever you tell them to do something, they always ask for benefits," Kiwanuka said. Ends
