JOHN Lubia will captain the national team to the International Cricket Council (ICC) mini world cup in Canada next month.

By Ronnie Kintu JOHN Lubia will captain the national team to the International Cricket Council (ICC) mini world cup in Canada next month. Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) announced yesterday that Lubia, who was captain before, takes over the leadership of Uganda from Henry Okecho who has been Captain since 1998. The top three teams will qualify for the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. According to a release by the chairman selection committee Edward Sempebwa, the squad of 18 named yesterday will be cut down to 14 after a tour of Kenya May 31. The squad: Lubia, Lawrence Ssematimba, Frank Nsubuga, Joel Olweny, Benjamin Musoke, Nehal Bibodi, Keith Legesi, Junior Kwebiha, Kenneth Kamyuka, Richard Okia, Henry Kato,Henry Osinde, Charles Lwanga, Simon Nsubuga, Tendo Mbazzi,Richard Mwami, David Meya and Henry Okecho.
