By Kyomuhendo Muhanga in Mbarara Ngoma Ngime, the Mbarara resident district commissioner, has been nominated to contest for the Mbarara municipality parliamentary seat. Ngoma Ngime was nominated by Mbarara business guru and managing director of GBK factory Mr. Godfrey Kacuma at 3:40pm. He told reporters soon after leaving the nomination room, "My victory is in no doubt. I expect a 95% victory." He contests with three others to oust the out-spoken Winnie Byanyima, who was nominated on Monday. Others in the race include former Makerere University lecturer Mr. Emmanuel Bukabeeba and a teacher at Ntare school, Mr. James Tweheyo. After nomination Ngoma Ngime, flanked by his wife, left for the town in a heavily-guarded convoy of over 100 vehicles and boda bodas. Notable in the convoy were Major General Elly Tumwine and Jovia Saleh, wife to Major General Salim Saleh. Ngoma Ngime's intention to contest for the Mbarara municipality has been the talk of the town for the past two months, with several residents saying he was not eligible because he is not a Munyankore.
