By Phillip Corry GRACE Nsubuga's performance at the Wilbert Paige Memorial Chess Championship grew from bad to worst when he completed a hat-trick of losses going down to Zambian master Amon Simutowe in his round six game. Simutowe mopped up Nsubuga in a 24-move rout after taking advantage of the Ugandan's poor handling of the Nimzo-Indian. The Zambian star hit Nsubuga with a tactical shot, 20. Not realizing the danger, Nsubuga blundered with 20 and his position fell like a pack of cards after 21. Nsubuga's hopes of gaining International Master Status have been quashed after his latest setback. Previously he fell to Norman Rogers and Michael Schleifer of United States and Canada respectively. The two time Olympian needed to win 4 games to achieve the Master status, the first of its kind for a Ugandan. Nsubuga now meets William Morrison of the United States in round 7 and then faces Watu Kobese from South Africa. Ends
