BONIFACE Toroitich, running his first international event, won a silver medal at the African Junior Championship in Mauritius on Thursday, reports William Muwonge. The 16-year old Standard High school student clocked 28 minutes, 45 seconds in the 10,000 metre race. Uganda Amateur Athletics Federation (UAAA) secretary Patrick Okanya broke the news yesterday. He said Toroitich was beaten to the gold by a Kenyan. Toroitich, brother of another long distance runner Martin Toroitich, will return to action in the 5,000 race today. His compatriot Mary Bacia begins her campaign today in the 800 event. ends
