THE impregnation of women with disabilities by unknown men in Arua district is on the increase.

By Jolly Azabo THE impregnation of women with disabilities by unknown men in Arua district is on the increase. This was revealed by the district chairman for people with disabilities, Mr. Wilson Adraka. In a workshop organised by Uganda Human Rights Commission at Hotel Pacific in Arua recently, Adraka called for a punitive law to protect disabled women, who he said were unable to protect themselves. He said efforts to encourage parents and relatives to follow up such cases with the Police were not fruitful. The workshop, organised for Non-Government Organisation (NGOs) and Community Based Organisation (CBOs) in Arua district, attracted over 50 participants. It was officially opened by the Arua LC5 chairman, Mr. Alex Jurua, who called for collaboration and networking among the NGO and CBOs to fight human rights abuses.
