By Eva Nabagesera HUNDREDS of people flocked Speke Resort Munyonyo, to attend the Indian food and music festival on Saturday, where foods from different parts of India were presented. The function organised by the Indian Association of Uganda, presented 15 food tents, which displayed delicacies from the Indian Community Associations. The Chairman of the Association, Ravindra Singh Chauhan, said the festival was part of the preparations for the Diwali celebrations in November. “Every year, around Diwali, we organise a cultural programme to promote Indian culture in Uganda where we present different dances and songs,” Chauhan said. He said this year’s celebrations were unique because they included a food festival. Chauhan said the proceeds from the food sales would be used for the development of the Indian communities. The function was attended by the acting Indian High Commissioner, Gulzar Singh and Crane Bank director, Sudhir Ruparelia. The festival was sponsored by among others UTL Telecel.
