OVER thirty youth, including Makerere University Students’ Guild President, Fred Mukasa Mbidde, yesterday stormed the Electoral Commission (EC) offices to protest the postponement of the Kampala District youth polls, writes Vision Reporter. The Kampala youths stormed the EC offices shortly after lunch time, and put the EC Legal Affairs and Public Relations head, Alexandra Nkonge, to task to explain why the Kampala polls had been postponed. Nkonge had to seek Police protection. Nkonge told the youth that the polls were postponed because there were petitions over youth council polls at division level. She promised that a decision on the elections will be made by Thursday. Speaking on behalf of the youth, Kampala lawyer Erias Lukwago, said district youth elections countrywide were scheduled for last Saturday. Lukwago said the EC, however, abruptly announced on Friday afternoon that the polls for Kampala district had been postponed. Ends
