THE Electoral Commission yesterday said candidates for municipal and city division positions will start campaigns on Christmas Eve.

By Vision Reporters THE Electoral Commission yesterday said candidates for municipal and city division positions will start campaigns on Christmas Eve. EC chairman, Aziz Kasujja, said in a press release that aspirants for chairpersons, directly elected councillors, and women councillors will hold candidates’ meetings from Christmas Eve to January 8. The commission has appointed December 24 to January 8, 2002 as the campaign period for joint candidates’ meetings for chairpersons, councillors and women councillors at municipality and city divisions,” Kasujja said. “During that period no candidate shall organise, hold his or her individual candidates meetings,” he added. He said the returning officer will appoint a presiding officer for the joint campaigns in the city divisions and municipalities. Ends
