A popular girls' secondary school in Iganga District is back in the news. This time though, it is not for producing the best student at O' Level but for witchcraft.
A copy of the minutes of a recent staff meeting, which this writer saw, quotes the headmistress, Nkonge (not real name) as saying, "Teachers involved in wizardry should stop the habit."
Leah, a student, said the community is fed up and this habit has disrupted their reading. There are reports of night dancers moving about the school at night in form of "cats".
"In fact a cat is a scary creature in the school grounds at night. Confronting one in the dark instinctively makes girls run away screaming," she added.
According to a worker who preferred anonymity, a chemistry teacher was bewitched and has up to now failed to get back to work.
Ends.
