By Jean-Marie Nsambu A UGANDAN claiming to be Jesus Christ is appealing for financial support to establish his ministry. "Jesus Christ" who has since dropped his original name of Andrew Ssali, came to The New Vision recently. He said he got God's call to be Christ while studying in the United States in 1988. Ssali said he is divine and shares in the deity of the Trinity, because God the Father decided to set him aside and utilise his body, to continue the redemption of humanity. Dressed in a black blazer, cream trousers, multicoloured tie, carrying a trendy handbag and mobile phone, "Jesus", said he needs facilitation to reach out to those "who feel led to win souls to God." He said he is yet to get a physical address. "I am in the process of establishing one," he said. However, he hastened to add that he is not a pastor at any church and that he came to bring all churches together. "Jesus" who called The New Vision to fix an appointment for an interview, however, postponed it twice saying he had a bad cold. He coughed occasionally during the interview. Ssali said he is omnipotent and he can heal and rise to life the dead. "I am now in the presence of people in Australia or India like I am here now. The evidence of who I am is becoming more profound," he said. "Jesus" spoke with an American accent, smiled often and made a lot of gestures during the interview. Asked about Christmas, he said he was celebrating Christmas day like anyone would mark his or her birthday. Ends.
