WHAT is more onerous than writing a cover letter? There is just something so tiresome about telling people repeatedly what a great employee you would be.
Since you do not want to change the message, it is better to change the method of producing one.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can create a template. You can do this the old-fashioned way by creating three paragraphs and adjusting them for each position you apply for.

With this method, you will have to call up the last letter you wrote in order to write the next one.

Just be sure you do not leave references to other companies in the new letter.

Ready for those three paragraphs?
The first one should reference the job. For example, “I am writing to inquire about openings for a teacher” or “I am responding to your posting requesting an island caretaker.” You can get fancier later.

The second paragraph is where you give all your great attributes.
Suppose you are a teacher, explain your teaching background and philosophy, plus the skills you have that most postings request.

In the last paragraph, simply reiterate that you would like to meet and discuss how you can contribute to the organisation.

With practice, you will be able to make the fastest letter sound like a labour of love.
