DEMOCRATIC Party president, Nobert Mao, yesterday stormed CID headquarters to reclaim placards confiscated from his supporters in the morning.

Mao had gone to Buganda Road Court to attend the trial of a DP supporter, Annet Namwnaga, who was arrested two months ago and charged with terrorism.

Namwanga, an employee of Mulago Hospital was picked up from her work place.

While security agencies say she was involved terrorism-related activities, the party says she is been hounded for political reasons.

Yesterday, a group of youth clad in T-shirt emblazoned with messages in support of Namwanga demonstrated in outside Buganda Road Court.

They also carried placards demanding for her unconditional release. The group of about 20 youth were led by Mao’s aide, Elvis Kintu.

When Mao learnt that police officials had confiscated the placards, he followed them to CID headquarters. Mao insisted that DP members had a right to air their views.

Mao and his group were given back the placards, but warned not to cause any havoc in the city.
