FORMER National Rally champion Ronald Ssebuguzi will not tussle with Susan ‘Super Lady’ Muwonge for the national title, opting to concentrate on the East African Challenge.

Ssebuguzi (Mitsubishi Evo9) who missed the Mbarara Rally that Muwonge won last weekend told The New Vision that he had decided to concentrate on the bigger title.

“Initially I wanted to get both titles but I was unable to secure adequate resources to tackle both championships. Susan shouldn’t worry about me now, I will occasionally participate in Uganda just for the purpose of training,” Ssebuguzi remarked.

Ssebuguzi said he expects spare parts for his car in Kampala later this month and will be ready for the regional championship.

The East African Challenge starts in June with the Kenya Safari Rally that will be followed by Pearl of Africa Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda Mountain Gorilla rallies. These events are also part of the Africa Rally Championship.

Muwonge stunned the male-dominated field when she won in Mbarara to take the lead in the championship. Wycliff Bukenya, Ahmed Ashraf, Edson Munghereza and Ismail Otega complete the top five.

Ponsiano Lwakataka, Godfrey Lubega, Godfrey Kiyaga and reigning national champion Nasser Mutebi are yet to score points but are vying for the national crown.
