IRON-bar hit thugs struck Mukono again on Sunday, hitting three people and inflicting serious injuries on them.

The victims were identified as Justine Nakulima, 26, a resident of Kalagi village in Kyampisi sub-county, Ronald Kyewalabye, 30, a resident of Kito village in Nabbaale sub-county and Siperito Kigozi, 40, a bodaboda rider in Kasawo town.

Lugazi district Police commander Caroline Akoth, however, said only Nakulima’s case was reported to Lugazi Police station.

The first incident occurred at around 6:45pm when an unidentified man asked Kigozi to take him to Ggindu village in Seeta-Namuganga sub-county from Kasawo.

Halfway the journey, the passenger hit Kigozi with a hammer on the head and when he fell down, he jumped on his motorcycle and disappeared with it.

“I tried to fight him but he hit my hands too and I fell down,” Kigozi said.

On the same day, at around 1:00am, Kyewalabye was attacked as he was going back home. His sh47,000, a radio set and half a kilo of sugar were taken by the man who ordered him to hand over everything he had.

Kyewalabye said when he tried to resist, the thug cut him on the neck and left hand using a panga. “When I realised that the thug was going to kill me, I took off. I went to my sister, Rosemary Kizza, who took me to Naggalama hospital,” he said.

At around 5:00am, the thugs hit Nakulima who was going to work in Kalagi town.

“I met a man who asked me for money. when I told him I had no money, another man hit me with an iron bar on the head and I fell down,” she narrated. Nakulima said the thugs took her small radio.

She was saved by residents who heard her screaming. They found her lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to Naggalama hospital.

The Police have arrested two people in connection with the incidents.
