DO you remember your finalists’ dinner at university or college? It could have been a faculty dinner or an old school association dinner. Whichever it was, it must have stayed with you.

DO you remember your finalists’ dinner at university or college? It could have been a faculty dinner or an old school association dinner. Whichever it was, it must have stayed with you.

These dinners have not changed much over time. You still have to pay to attend and they are probably some of the few parties in town which artistes have not penetrated (I wonder why — could it be that they are held on a shoe string budget?).

What has notably changed is the way they are organised. They do not have to be held on campus. In fact, today, most of these bashes are held in some of the most luxurious hotels within the neighbourhood of the universities/colleges.

Others prefer to have them out door, especially at the beach. These functions, unlike high school proms, are great occasions for students to socialise with purpose – perhaps with a view to meeting a possible future partner.

Most importantly though, they are a chance to fraternise with important personalities, most of who are alumni, invited to preside over these occasions. You could meet your future boss at your finalists’ dinner.

This semester being the time for these lavish dos, we attended a couple and bring you what goes down.
