COMMONWEALTH Games hero Moses Kipsiro will be one of the big names in this year’s Hared Source of the Nile Marathon, James Bakama reports.

“I should be concentrating on track at this time, but this event has good motives that should be promoted,” said Kipsiro of the May 22 competition.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Paediatrics Ward of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for the purchase of Ear, Nose Throat (ENT) equipment.

Other big names expected include former world champion Dorcus Inzikuru together with Kenyan and Tanzanian runners.

Hared Petroleum general manager Nurudin Yusuf said Deputy Chief of Defense Forces Lt. Gen. Ivan Koreta will be the chief runner of the day in the third edition of the event.

Organising committee chairman Ben Akamu noted that besides the close to 1000 individual runners who have so far registered, there has also been a surge in corporate team entries.

These include StanChart, DFCU, KCB, Tropical Bank, Stanbic, Bank of Africa Centenary and Post Bank, among others.

Registration is one at all Hared filling stations, Javas Nakumat, Javas City Oil, First Pharmacy-Wandegeya, Shoprite Lugogo and Clock Tower.

Akamu explained that participants will collect their kit from their respective centres of registration between May 16-20.
