EDITOR: On April 28 and May 3, anonymous writers made malicious and false statements about how the Electoral Commission (EC) pays temporary staff in Wakiso district.

The allegations in the lettes were intended not only to tarnish the name of the Wakiso office but the EC as an institution.
The established payment and accounting procedures are professionally adhered to by the district's accountants. A triplicate voucher payment system is used for internal and external audit records.
Besides, payments are effected at the nearest subcounty headquarters where the temporary staff live. This saves them from travelling long distances to the district office.
