NOMINEES for ministerial positions will be vetted for two days starting tomorrow, Parliament spokesperson Hellen Kaweesa has said.

Kaweesa yesterday said the committee would handle five nominees per hour, starting with the deputy prime ministers followed by Cabinet ministers and then the ministers of state.

The committee comprising 20 members from both the ruling and opposition side is chaired by the Speaker of Parliament.

The Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Leader of the Opposition are also members of the committee.

The members are Betty Aol Ocan (Gulu Woman, FDC), Betty Amongi (Oyam UPC), Ssebuliba Mutumba (Kawempe South, DP), Mathias Mpuuga (Masaka Municipality, Independent) and Rose Nyakikongoro (Sheema Woman, Independent).

The President submitted 15 names, including Patrick Nakabaale (Central Youth), Sofia Nalule (Disabled National), Mathias Kasamba (Kakuuto County), Rose Najjemba (Gomba County), Muwuma Milton (Kigulu South) and Saleh Kamba (Kibuku County).

Others are Christine Amongin Aporu (Kumi), Alepa Peter (Moroto Municipality), Hood Katuramu (Disabled West), Fred Omach (Jonam County), Rebecca Otengo (Lira district),
General Elly Tumwine (Army), Victoria Rusoke (Kabarole district), Kasirivu Atwooki (Bugangaizi West) and Paula Turyahikayo (Rubabo County).

Recently, however, the President nominated Kamba, Aporu, Otengo and Omach for ministerial positions, implying that they will have to withdraw from the committee.

Kaweesa said the Speaker would decide on what will happen to their positions.

Last week, Parliament approved Edward Sekandi and Amama Mbabazi as Vice-President and Prime Minister respectively.
