I left my marital home for about six months to be by my father’s bedside. He had been admitted to hospital with diabetes. After a while, doctors recommended that he seek treatment in India. I sold part of my property to pay for the costs and make sure he got the best treatment. He is alive and well. I am glad that I sacrificed so he could get better.

When my parents met, they did not have a church wedding. They had lived together for about 30 years when my siblings and I put our heads together, planned and threw them a beautiful church wedding. We did this last year in December. We were extremely proud of ourselves for what we had done for them.

Recently, I bought my father a piece of land so he can do something he truly loves, farming. He is cultivating crops there and rears animals as well. This supplements his income and his next meal is guaranteed. On the land I also put up a three-storey building where he lives.
