Kampala high court Judge Jane Kiggundu on Friday released Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Bushenyi Chairperson, William Mukaira, on a cash bail of sh3m.

His sureties have been ordered to execute a sum of sh6m not cash.

Buganda Road court magistrate John Wekesa last week charged and remanded Mukaira to Luzira Prison over the murder of Col. Edison Muzoora.

Mukaira’s lawyer Nester Byamugisha told court that his client is suffering from hypertension and other illnesses. He was picked from Mulago hospital to appear in court this morning.

His submission was beefed up by Dr. Emmanuel Seremba of Mulago Hospital who told court that Mukaira was admitted on June 19 in ward 6B in a critical condition.

Mukaira’s sureties were the leader of opposition in Parliament Nandala Mafabi, former East African Community secretary general Amanya Mushega and the opposition chief whip Winfred Kiiza.
