The Kabaka of Buganda, his government and the Buganda Lukikko officially welcomed the governor of Uganda Sir Walter Coutts at a ceremony in Bulange at 3pm.

The Kabaka of Buganda, his government and the Buganda Lukikko officially welcomed the governor of Uganda Sir Walter Coutts at a ceremony in Bulange at 3pm. 

Coutts, Uganda’s last governor was sworn in at a ceremony at Entebbe cricket grounds on November 19th.As part of the ceremony to welcome him the Kabaka opened a special meeting of the Lukiiko. 

The governor accompanied with his wife Lady Coutts on arrival inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Kabaka’s body guard.

The ceremony inside the Lukiiko hall included speeches by the governor, Kabaka and the invited guests after which they drove to the Lubiri where a tea party was held.

Coutts as the last governor was to prepare Uganda for independence on October 9th , 1962.

The first female graduate police woman was Elizabeth Muwanga in 1980. When she finished her studies, Muwanga opted to join the Police Force. However, critics of the time castigated her for the move, saying the force was a no-go area for women.
