PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has pledged government support to Tumu Hospital, a privately owned Sh 2.5 billion facility in the newly created Buhweju district.

He said this would go a long way in helping the rural community in the district to access quality health care.

The President, who commissioned the hospital after a brief tour, commended the proprietors for setting up a modern health facility. He added that government would partner with the hospital to ensure that remote communities in the district have access to quality health services.

Tumu Hospital is a community health care focused institution equipped with a training wing for nurses, mid wives and lab technicians. The hospital has other modern services like ultra sound scans, X-ray machines, theatres and other modern facilities.

The hospital Executive Director Johnson Tumusiime hailed the president for his good governance and health policies which provide for a robust investment environment that enabled them to set up such a hospital.

He said they opted to invest in the rural area at home to provide access to proper health care for the grassroots communities, adding that their charges are very low to cater for the poor people.

Tumusiime affirmed that they are putting more emphasis on maternal and child health care, HIV/AIDS, counseling and testing.

The hospital, valued at Sh 2.5 billion, is owned by Tumu Group and has a permanent resident doctor.

The Bishop of West Ankole Diocese Rt.Rev.Yona Katonene thanked God for his blessings and the president’s dedication towards serving God's people.
