Arua mayor warns on land deals
Greedy municipal staffs are fleecing the public through fraudulent land sales, Arua Municipality mayor Charles Asiki has said. “Some of the fraudsters are staff of the municipal council but they are acting on their own,” he added. Asiki made the remark during a poorly attended public forum (Baraza) at Arua Police grounds on Friday. He was responding to complaints regarding land conflicts in the town. Asiki said some of his staff may have taken advantage of the ignorance of the public to sell municipal land. Last July, Vincent Aderibo a former municipal employee was arrested and charged with fraudulent sale of four plots in Arua town.
