TWO newly created town councils in Kanungu district have become operational.

Butogota and Kambuga town councils were approved by Parliament last year. This brings the number of town councils in the district to four after Kanungu and Kihiihi were created in 2002. Kanungu also became a district in 2002.

Kanungu chief administrative officer has appointed new staff and re-shuffled the existing ones to ensure better service delivery in the district.

Edith Turyagumisiriza, who has been the Kanungu town clerk, was transferred to Kihihi, while Jackson Byamukama was transferred from Kihiihi to Kanungu.

David Muhwezi, the former clerk to Rukungiri district council, was posted to Butogota town and Ezra Ndyahebwa was appointed the Kambuga town clerk.
