PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has mourned the fallen Lango Queen, Imat Victoria Agong Odur, wife to the Lango Paramount Chief, Yosam Odur-Ebii.

The President said Agong left a socio-cultural legacy which will not be forgotten.

“The nation has lost a senior citizen, counsellor and mother whose home was always open to all,” Museveni said in a condolence message read by the Minister for the Presidency, Kabakumba Masiko, on Friday.

Agong died of asthma on September 1 at Teboke Health Centre. She was laid to rest at their ancestral home at Teboke parish, Chegere sub-county in Apac district.

Museveni also commended Agong for molding her children and nurturing them into useful citizens who are contributing to the socio-economic development of Uganda.

“On my behalf and that of the entire nation, I would like to express most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Lango Paramount Chief, the family, the Lango Cultural Foundation and all the people of Lango upon the sad loss,” Museveni said.

Imat Agong was renown in Lango for her advocacy against same-sex marriages and indecent and reckless living among the youth.
