Kyambogo top bosses fight
A fresh row has erupted between Kyambogo vice-chancellor Prof. Isaiah Ndiege and the university council chairman, James Kalebbo, each accusing the other of poor leadership. In a written exchange, Kalebbo accused Ndiege of insubordination and failing to address students’ concerns which led to strikes. Ndiege has also accused Kalebbo of mismanaging the university council which led to demotivation of staff. The row began when the council, meeting on April 25, discussed Ndiege’s performance as chairperson of the students’ welfare committee and found him wanting. Subsequently, the university council, which is the institution’s supreme governing body, ruled that Ndiege be replaced as chairperson of the students’ welfare committee.

Musisi summoned over Basajja awards
The public accounts committee has summoned the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director, Jennifer Musisi, to explain the circumstances under which the Government signed contracts with three companies and later cancelled them. According to the committee, the Kampala City Council signed agreements with Haba Group of companies in 2009 to manage and develop the city square in addition to Nakasero, Shayuriyako and St. Balikudembe markets. The council also signed an agreement with Rhino International to manage and develop Kisekka Market. It also signed contracts with a number of individuals to develop plots around the taxi park. However, under unclear circumstances, the contracts were cancelled. In a bid to reclaim their money, the contractors threatened to sue the Government for causing them financial loss.
