Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday arrived in Pretoria, South Africa for a meeting on the latest developments in Libya.

The President who was received at Lanseria International Airport by the South African Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoane Mashabane will be joining South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma, Congo’s Dennis Sassaou Nguesso, Amadou Toumani Toure from Mali and Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz from Mauritania to discuss the recent developments in Libya.

The African Union named the presidents of South Africa, Mauritania, Congo, Mali and Uganda to form a high-level committee to help resolve the conflict in Libya. The decision to create the committee was taken at a meeting of the AU’s peace and Security Council.
The AU panel on Libya is due to meet later on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments in Libya.

The African Union had sought in vain to mediate between Libya's ousted leader Muammar Gadaffi and the rebels who rejected the continental bloc's proposals.

AU members were against Nato's involvement in the conflict, arguing that African problems should have African solutions.
