Pirates must be a relieved side following the speedy recovery of captain Solomon Mawanda and forward Sammy Wairu ahead of the Nile Special Rugby Uganda Cup final in Jinja on Saturday.

Wairu, who sprained an ankle in the semifinal win against Heathens resumed training on Monday, while Mawanda responded well to typhoid medication and was expected to train yesterday.

Anthony Kinene, man-of-the match against Heathens, was delighted at the possibility of a full strength squad in the final against Kobs.

“I think Solomon and Sammy will be good to go on Saturday. With everybody available we will do our best. Kobs are a credible opposition that can rise to the big occasion though,” Kinene warned.

Pirates that are vying to reclaim the trophy they won in 2007 will head to Jinja on Friday to avoid travel fatigue.

The team embarked on massive recruitment after the league and hope it will pay off with Uganda Cup success.

The two teams had wanted to play the final at Kampala Club but Uganda Rugby Union turned down their pleas.
