The Police in Luwero district have arrested a man suspected of stealing motorbikes and selling them in Sudan.

David Otim, the district Criminal Investigations Officer, identified the suspect as Isaac Adriko, a resident of Kizito zone in Luwero town council.

Otim said Adriko confessed to stealing and selling the stolen motorcycles in Sudan.

The Police stormed Adriko’s house in Kizito zone and recovered pieces of iron bars, helmets, fake numberplates and 35 bus tickets issued by Gaagaa Transport Company.

Two bikes, one of which had a government numberplate, were also recovered from Adriko’s house.

Otim said they suspected that Adriko was part of a larger group whose leaders operate in Kampala, but use Luwero as a transit point.

He said the motorcycles were sold in Sudan at between sh2.7m and sh3.5m.

Otim said the Police had mounted a search for the other suspects.

The Police identified the fake numberplates as UDS 366U belonging to Bajaj motorcycle, but was changed and placed onto a Honda motorcycle.

Others were UDS 490A belonging to a red Bajaj boxer and a Yamaha DT 125CC UDS 446.
