UNRA gives Jinja sh236m for land
Jinja municipal council has received sh236m from Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) as compensation for a piece of land that will be affected by the construction of a new bridge over River Nile. The town clerk, Francis Barabanawe, announced during a council meeting on Thursday that the money was already on the municipal council account. Barabanawe, however, requested councillors to authorise him to use part of the money, which he said was not part of their budget this financial year, to clear a debt of sh134m the council owes the Uganda Revenue Authority.
