NEW Vision has won a top science media award for its outstanding coverage of science stories for the year 2011 in Uganda.

NEW Vision has won a top science media award for its outstanding coverage of science stories for the year 2011 in Uganda.

New Vision won the print category of the 2011 National Science Week, the National Science Journalists Award. It was announced at the closure of the week-long science week at Mountains of the Moon in Fort Portal last Friday.

The prize included a plaque and a certificate from the organisers, Uganda National Council for Science and Technology and Uganda Science Journalist Association. NTV won the broadcasting category.

The New Vision science reporter, John Kasozi, was named the best print science journalist in the individual category. He received a plaque and a certificate.

Other reporters from the print media that were recognised were Gerald Tenywa from New Vision, Joseph Mitti and Lominda Afedraru from Daily Monitor. Esther Nakazi won the online science journalist award. Kefa Atibuni of the National Agriculture Research Organisation won the science writers’ award.
