Former President Idi Amin’s children are to share the family land in Arua with squatters.
Amin acquired the 93-hectare land in Lajebo in Vurra county in 1974. The “life president” fled into exile in 1979 before developing the land.
The villagers then took advantage and moved onto the land.
The Arua Resident District Commissioner, Okoth Nyalulu, said in an interview last week that since the squatters had refused to vacate the land, Amin’s sons, who want to develop the land, have no choice but to share it with them.
“We have no other option, especially in the case of squatters whso moved in before the 1995 Constitution,” Nyalulu said.
He identified those authorised to develop the land as Hathan Ramadhan, Ibrahim Onziga and Kamis Gala
