Kony Castrates Men In Karamoja

Kony’s LRA rebels have attacked Karamoja for the second time castrating three men and abducting six others, including a soldier. An engineer with Omega Construction Company is among the dead, reports Chris Osekeny Jamu in Kotido.

The UPDF 3rd Division commander, Col. Sula Semakula, said during an attack on Awach trading centre, Lotuke sub-county in Labwor county, Kotido district on Sunday, the rebels killed three people, whose private parts were chopped off and left to bleed to death.

Semakula said the rebels looted drugs worth sh400,000 from Awach health unit and disarmed 16 Karimojong warriors.

Semakula said the rebels took advantage of fewer troops in the Karamoja region since a sizeable number was ferried to northern Uganda for Operation Iron Fist against Kony.

He said the abducted soldier had gone out of the detachment for booze.

Semakula said he was left with a few LDUs to man the detachment under the command of UPDF officers.

A woman, who was abducted but was later released and instructed to keep her “big mouth shut” about the movements of rebels, whispered to The New Vision that she heard the rebels promising to attack Karamoja for the third time soon.

Hundreds of manyattas (huts) were burnt and the shops looted clean during the attack.
