SIR— Today’s education is not pocket friendly. It is even much more costly at degree level. When one talks of flying abroad, say for a masters degree, without sponsorship, it is even worse. It is for this reason that I request the Makerere University School of Postgraduate Studies to introduce a nine-month masters degree at a little cost. District administrations should also consider offering bursaries or a vote to cater for students who gratify to join enter university for any level of study. This will help build capacity in districts. Even in advanced countries this is done. Francis Onyait Tororo
