BRIGHT students who cannot afford school fees have a reason to smile. This is because Turkish Light Academy in Lweza off Entebbe Road is offering 20% of its enrolment for Senior One and Senior Five as scholarships. In addition, all students who perform well are taken for a tour of Europe.
All primary school leavers who get aggregates four and five are eligible for free secondary education up to Senior Six. Those who have scored between eight and 12 aggregates at senior four from any school in Uganda are also considered for A’level scholarships.
“Let them come and study free of charge. We have a budget for scholarships. We sponsor 20% of all our students,†the headmaster, Hakki Aydin, said on Friday as he congratulated Godfrey Kaweesa whom the school gave a scholarship after he failed to raise money to join King’s College Budo.
Kaweesa, who got nine points and wants to become a doctor, will continue studying for free at the academy.
Turkish light Academy, which is a branch of Light Academy of Kenya, started in 2001.
