UGANDA Cricket Association (UCA) chairman Kato Sebbaale has been appointed to the African Cricket Association (ACA) board as executive director for the East African region.
The decision means that Kato, who has been in charge of UCA since late last year, will have to contend with more than just local cricketing issues.
A letter sent by ACA CEO Cassim Suliman on July 28 indicates that Kato “will be responsible for the monitoring of the Development Coordinator with regards to operations pertaining to Cricket Development within the region as well as addressing all cricket matters within the Affiliates of the said regionâ€.
Last year, Kato won a hotly contested election against William Kibuuka Musoke to assume the chairmanship of Uganda’s cricket governing body.
Seven months into his one year tenure, the fortunes of the sport locally have dramatically improved with an inaugural Twenty20 tournament held in June.
In addition, the domestic league resumed under better organisation.
