UK-based car importer eyes local market

Publication date: Sunday, 9th August, 2009

A LEADING UK-based car importer plans to start shipping new and used cars with well documented repair and accident records to guarantee a longer stay on the roads.

JobPlant wants to ensure professionalisation of the car import business amidst growing concerns over fake car sales and vehicle registration scamsreports, David Mugabe.

“JobPlant commissions an independent 120-point inspection on all its vehicles. This is the highest inspection in the UK motoring industry and is grade AA approved. This is not the statutory pre-shipment inspection, which we still have to do before exporting,” said Emmanuel Ogol, the managing director.

Electronically wiring your hard earned money to Japan or the UK to buy a car you have never physically seen is considered an act of faith.

“Why, because the seller can disappear from the face of the earth with your money or you may get a vehicle in a very bad mechanical condition compared to what you expected.

“But so many people are doing it and there are cases of so many who get a “good machine” but others also get ripped off,” said Ogol. He said JobPlant does not sell cars with no documented service history.
