SIR — I am shocked that there are still MPs in Parliament like Ms Florence Ekwau (Kaberamaido)!
Ms Ekwau, you may forgive us, but we are not used to reading well-reasoned pro-people articles from MPs and that is why I nearly fainted when I read your article “I oppose the sh60m MP vehicle scheme†published on Thursday.
The amount of greed in that house makes the electorate think that all MPs are the same. Thank God for small mercies there is a small minority that still has this country and the people at heart. I think as MPs, you should begin addressing this issue of Four-Wheel-Drive vehicles as a national tragedy.
A law should be passed prescribing which public officer should drive 4X4s. A relief coordinator in Pader might justify driving a Toyata Land Cruiser. But why do other people also jump onto the bandwagon?
The only time these gentlemen (and some ladies) go upcountry is over weekends, in which case they should use private cars. MPs like Ekwau are our only hope. Florence, please don’t get contaminated.
